Identity Document Additional Verifications Invite only

Learn how to collect and verify government-issued identity documents from connected accounts.

The Document Additional Verifications API allows you to enforce the mandatory collection and verification of government-issued identity documents for account representatives on a connected account. Stripe exposes these requirements as currently_due or past_due until the user (connected account) satisfies the requirement.

Identity document verification

When you request a document additional verification, Stripe:

1. Collects a government-issued photo ID from the account representative
2. Verifies that the document is authentic and hasn’t been tampered with
3. Extracts and validates information from the document
4. Optionally matches a selfie to the photo on the document (with require _ matching _ selfie )
5. Matches provided name and date of birth to the information on the document (can opt out in the Connect Onboarding settings page of the Dashboard)

• Validating that your users are who they claim to be
• Reducing the risk of fraudulent accounts
• Meeting regulatory requirements in certain industries
• Protecting your platform and the connected account’s customers
