Makes billing country and email fields optional for Klarna payments
What’s new
Previously, for Klarna payments, the billing_country was used to enforce buyer country eligibility for Klarna. Now, the payment’s currency determines if you can accept Klarna payments in that currency.
Impact
Because the email and country parameters are now optional, you aren’t required to pass that information to Stripe, which should reduce chances of integration errors. We recommend you continue passing this data (and other supplementary data) for Klarna payments to improve approval rates. Klarna underwrites credit options for the buyer at the transactional level, so the more data they have on the payment, the likelier they are able to approve the buyer for a Klarna credit option.

Upgrade
- View your current API version in Workbench.
- If you use an SDK, upgrade to the corresponding SDK version for this API version.
- If you don’t use an SDK, update your API requests to include Stripe-Version: 2025-02-24. acacia
- Upgrade the API version used for webhook endpoints .
- Test your integration against the new version.
- If you use Connect, test your Connect integration .
- In Workbench, perform the upgrade . You can roll back the version for 72 hours.
