Adds support for setting the capture method for specific payment methods with the Checkout Sessions API

What’s new

Adds the new capture_method parameter to payment_method_options when creating Checkout Sessions for the following payment methods:

Impact

If your integration uses manual capture with Checkout, you can now enable it selectively for supported payment methods while maintaining automatic capture for others. This eliminates the previous limitations where enabling manual capture would either remove unsupported payment methods from the UI or cause errors when explicitly requested.

Upgrade

  1. View your current API version in Workbench.
  2. If you use an SDK, upgrade to the corresponding SDK version for this API version.
  • If you don’t use an SDK, update your API requests to include Stripe-Version: 2025-09-30. clover
  1. Upgrade the API version used for webhook endpoints .
  2. Test your integration against the new version.
  3. If you use Connect, test your Connect integration .
  4. In Workbench, perform the upgrade . You can roll back the version for 72 hours.
