Changing a subscription to a new plan with a trial now extends the trial period Breaking changes

What’s new

When changing the plan on a subscription to a new plan with a trial (together with trial_from_plan=true), the new plan’s full trial period is now added to the subscription, without subtracting already-used time from previous trials.

Impact

This change allows you to apply a new plan’s full trial period to a subscription when changing plans, regardless of previous trial usage. It provides more flexibility in subscription management, enabling extended trial periods even for customers who have already had trials.

Upgrade

1. View your current API version in Workbench.
2. If you use an SDK, upgrade to the corresponding SDK version for this API version.

• If you don’t use an SDK, update your API requests to include Stripe-Version: 2018-05-21

3. Upgrade the API version used for webhook endpoints .
4. Test your integration against the new version.
5. If you use Connect, test your Connect integration .
6. In Workbench, perform the upgrade . You can roll back the version for 72 hours.
