Earn interest with a savings financial account Private preview
Earn interest on GBP balances by moving funds into a dedicated savings financial account.
Available in:
With a savings financial account, you can earn interest on GBP funds in your operational financial account that you don’t need for day-to-day use. Opening an account requires no minimum balance. Move funds into a dedicated savings financial account to start earning interest, and transfer funds back to your operational financial account any time you need them.
Savings financial accounts are available to eligible UK businesses during private preview. Request access.
How it works
- Move funds in : Transfer GBP from your operational financial account into your savings financial account.
- Earn interest : Interest accrues daily on your savings financial account balance at a variable interest rate, compounded monthly.
- Get paid out : Stripe pays accrued interest into your savings financial account on the second calendar day of each month.
- Withdraw : Transfer funds back to your operational financial account.
If Stripe lowers your interest rate, you’ll receive at least 14 days’ notice before the change takes effect. Interest rate increases can take effect with less notice.
You can only add or withdraw funds in your savings financial account by transferring to and from your own eligible GBP operational financial account.
Create a savings financial account
- On the Balances page, review the savings promotion and click Create account , or click Add new .
- Review and accept the terms. Read how the savings financial account works, then select the checkbox to confirm you’ve reviewed the account documents.
- Enter the amount to transfer from your financial account to your savings financial account.
- Confirm the transfer. Stripe shows a confirmation that your savings financial account is funded.
After you set up your savings financial account, it appears as a new balance tile on your Balances page, showing your current interest rate.
Move money into your savings financial account
If you don’t have funds to transfer during setup, you can skip funding and add money to your savings financial account later.
To add funds, transfer from your operational financial account into your savings financial account. Your operational financial account balance updates immediately, and the funds are available in your savings financial account after a short processing delay. This delay applies every day, including weekends.
Your funds start earning interest by the end of the day they arrive with Stripe’s banking partner.
Withdraw from your savings financial account
You can transfer funds from your savings financial account to your operational financial account. Withdrawals move only between your own financial accounts.
Manage your savings financial account
From your savings financial account’s detail page, you can see:
- Your current interest rate and total interest earned
- The date of your next interest payment
- A transaction history of transfers and interest payments
- Your account documents
Stripe pays out interest without deducting tax. Depending on your circumstances, you might need to pay tax on the interest you earn. You’re responsible for reporting and paying any tax owed to the related setting.
