Disputes
Customers have up to 120 calendar days from the date of purchase to file SeQura disputes. SeQura payments can only be disputed once.
Dispute process
- Dispute opened : SeQura opens a dispute. Stripe immediately withholds the disputed amount from your balance. You have 15 calendar days to submit evidence.
- Decision : SeQura reviews your evidence and issues a final decision within 25 calendar days of dispute creation.
Dispute notifications
When a SeQura dispute is opened, Stripe notifies you through:
- The Stripe Dashboard
- A charge.dispute.created webhook event
The dispute reason is available in the Dashboard and in the reason field of the Dispute object. The evidence submission deadline is available in the Dashboard and in the evidence_due_by field of the Dispute object.
Responding to disputes
You have 15 calendar days from dispute creation to submit evidence.
Upload compelling evidence in the Stripe Dashboard proving that you fulfilled the purchase order. This evidence can include:
- Tracking ID
- Shipping date
- Record of purchase for intangible goods, such as IP address or email receipt
- Record of purchase for services or physical goods, such as phone number or proof of receipt
- Record of refund (for purchases you’ve already refunded)
You can submit evidence and manage SeQura disputes in the Dashboard or programmatically using the Disputes API. In the Dashboard, go to the Needs Response tab, click the disputed payment, then click Counter dispute to submit your evidence, or Accept dispute to accept the loss. To submit evidence through the API, upload supporting files using the Files API and include the returned file IDs when you update the Dispute Evidence object.
Dispute outcomes
If SeQura resolves the dispute in your favor, Stripe returns the disputed amount to your Stripe balance.
If they rule in favor of the customer, the balance charge becomes permanent.
SeQura disputes allow only a single round of evidence submission. Make sure to gather all necessary evidence before submitting—you won’t be able to supplement it afterward.

Connect
| Capability | Requirement |
|---|---|
sequra_payments | Connected accounts must have this capability enabled. Request it during account creation or by updating an existing connected account. |
If you use Connect, you must consider the following before you enable SeQura on connected accounts. To accept SeQura payments, connected accounts must have the sequra_payments capability enabled. You can request this capability during account creation or update an existing connected account. How you structure the charge also matters: with direct charges, the connected account is the merchant of record and their statement descriptor appears on the customer’s bank statement. With destination charges or transfer charges, your platform is the merchant of record. Review the Connect documentation for guidance on charge types and how they interact with payment method capabilities.
Customer experience
- Select payment method The customer selects SeQura at checkout.
- Create or log in The customer is redirected from your website or app to SeQura's hosted payment page.
- Accept terms The customer chooses a repayment option and completes payment authorization on SeQura's hosted page.
- Payment Complete The customer sees a SeQura confirmation screen, then returns to your website or app.
Transaction identifiers
Payments made with SeQura appear on the buyer’s statement as SeQura rather than your Stripe statement descriptor. For Connect scenarios, learn more about how statement descriptors are set with Connect. After a payment completes, expand latest_charge on the PaymentIntent to retrieve the SeQura transaction ID from latest_charge.payment_method_details.sequra.transaction_id. Share it with customers to help them locate the payment when contacting SeQura support.
Enable SeQura
If you use our front-end products, you can enable SeQura directly from your payment method settings. Stripe then automatically determines the most relevant payment methods to display to your customers.
If your integration requires manually listing payment methods, learn how to manually configure SeQura as a payment.
