Removes mandatory payments KYC onboarding for app distribution for Stripe Apps
What’s new
The app_distribution capability lets you distribute apps through external testing or by publishing them to the Stripe App Marketplace. You could already distribute apps before, but this capability lets you skip payment-related requirements if you only want to develop apps.
Impact
This change helps you get access to external testing and Stripe App Marketplace publishing with less onboarding overhead. It also separates app distribution requirements from payment requirements, meaning you only provide the necessary information for your use case.

Upgrade
- View your current API version in Workbench.
- If you use an SDK, upgrade to the corresponding SDK version for this API version.
- If you don’t use an SDK, update your API requests to include Stripe-Version: 2026-04-22. dahlia
- Upgrade the API version used for webhook endpoints .
- Test your integration against the new version.
- If you use Connect, test your Connect integration .
- In Workbench, perform the upgrade . You can roll back the version for 72 hours.
